Outreach Visits

Located in Port Augusta, Gulf & Ranges Optometrists has one of the best equipped optometry practices in the state. If you live outside Port Augusta, you can still see an optometrist at one of our regular outreach practice visits. We go to Andamooka, Cleve, Kimba, Hawker and other towns in the region. Trips for 2022 have been organised through until May.

Independent Optometrists

As an independent practice we choose the best eyewear to suit our patients and are not tied to a particular brand. We provide quality eyewear solutions to suit any prescription and budget. Get the best value by making the most of our package deals with multiple pairs of eyewear. Plus we offer layby options to help you purchase the eyewear you require.

Congratulations to Mr and Mrs Sims for being jointly awarded the District Council of Orroroo Carrieton Citizen of the Year for 2022! It’s always lovely seeing you in the practice and we can’t wait to congratulate you both personally when we see you next!! 🤩Congratulations to Joint Citizen of the Year: Ray & Clara Sims

Ray & Clara Sims of Orroroo have been jointly awarded the District Council of Orroroo Carrieton Citizen of the Year for 2022 in recognition of their service to the community.

Ray & Clara came to Orroroo in the 1950’s and have immersed themselves in the Orroroo community, volunteering with numerous groups and organisations.

Their main passion is the Orroroo Historical Society where they have been involved since 1990, holding Vice President and President positions. Their dedication to preserving the history of Orroroo is commendable with many long hours of researching, sorting and cataloguing. They often assist with family history requests and are a wealth of information when contacted.
Ray & Clara have also been the tour directors and newsletter editors for the Orroroo Probus Club and involved in the Orroroo Memorial Hall Committee, Orroroo Swimming Pool and Club, Orroroo Community Library Board, Orroroo Tidy Towns Committee,
Ray is a volunteer driver at both the Northern Passenger Transport Network and Orroroo Meals on Wheels for which he has just notched up 20 years.

Other clubs that Ray has been involved with in a volunteering capacity include the Orroroo Racing Club, Orroroo Show Society, Orroroo Golf Club, Orroroo Football Club and Orroroo CFS.

Clara has volunteered over the years with numerous community groups including the Orroroo Hospital Ladies Auxiliary, fundraising and assisting in projects at the Hospital to improve the facilities. She was also involved in the Orroroo CWA Committee and as the secretary for the Handicraft committee.

Clara has also been a volunteer at the Orroroo Community Home, Orroroo CFS Brigade Ladies Auxiliary, Orroroo Quilters Group and the Early Settlers Cottage.

Presentation of the Australia Day Awards will be made at the Australia Day Breakfast held at the Lions Park, Orroroo on
Wednesday 26 January 2022 from 8am.
